Hot Spots and Maps

I always had a thing about maps and the maps have a thing about me. We fight, we lie and we always get it wrong. I can’t remember location names due to a condition. I don’t have a good sense of direction, my wife says it’s that of a weasel on espresso. So when GPS handhelds arrived I tried that and it’s didn’t help. But when Google Maps on a phone started working properly then I was all in.

I saw a post on Reddit the other day from these guys: https://www.bigfootmap.com/ and I asked if they had John Green’s Bigfoot data. It was a no and I’m not surprised at all, there are like maybe 3 sightings marked for the Harrison Lake area!? Uggg..not good.

So I’m going to update my Green’s map with some of the more historical Bigfoot events like Ruby Creek and some of Thomas Steenburg’s records.

The one’s that stand out to me are: https://thomassteenburg.com/2020/04/09/never-to-late-to-report-a-sighting/ which is the Vye Road Power Station. The Stephen King movie Dreamcatcher was filmed in it. I used to live in that area and know that building and the area VERY well. If you head straight south of there it’s nothing but mountain and trees till you hit the USA. Which made it an active area for drug runners. VERY active.

And then there is Mystery Valley which is west of Harrison Lake: https://thomassteenburg.com/2016/05/10/mystery-valley/

So I’m going to visit/revisit these areas for historical nostalgia’s sake. But to be honest, I’m sticking to lakes, rivers and creeks because that is the best and easiest to find good tracks.
